Source text - English A trailing stop is a stop order that can be set at a defined percentage away from a security's current market price.
An investor places a trailing stop for a long position below the security’s current market price;
for a short position, they set it above the current price.
A trailing stop is designed to protect gains by enabling a trade to remain open and continue to profit as long as the price is moving in the investor’s favor, but closes the trade if the price changes direction by a specified percentage. A trailing stop can also specify a dollar amount instead of a percentage.
A trailing stop is more flexible than a fixed stop-loss order, as it automatically tracks the stock's price direction and does not have to be manually reset like the fixed stop-loss. Similar to all stop orders, a trailing stop enforces trading discipline by taking the emotion out of the “sell” decision, thus enabling traders and investors to protect profits and investment capital.
A trailing stop is more flexible than a fixed stop-loss order, as it automatically tracks the stock's price direction and does not have to be manually reset like the fixed stop-loss. Similar to all stop orders, a trailing stop enforces trading discipline by taking the emotion out of the “sell” decision, thus enabling traders and investors to protect profits and investment capital.
Investors can use trailing stops for other asset classes, such as forex and cryptocurrencies. Like other stop orders, trailing stops can be set as limit orders or market orders. Unlike conventional stop orders that are held on the market book at the exchange, trailing stop orders are monitored on the brokerage's trading platform. Trailing stops can also get programmed into algorithmic trading strategies.
Trailing Stop Example
Assume you purchased a stock at $10. You could place a 15% trailing stop order to protect your capital; this means that, if the stock declines by 15% or more, the trailing stop gets triggered, thereby minimizing your loss. Suppose the stock moves up to $14 over the next few months and, while you have enjoyed its appreciation, you are concerned it may retrace its gains. Recall that your trailing stop is in place, so, if the stock plunges 15% or more, it would be triggered. You could decide to tighten the trailing stop to 10% to protect as much profit as possible, while still giving the position room to run.
Let’s assume the stock moves up to $15 and then subsequently declines 10% to $13.50. The 10% price drop would trigger your trailing stop, and, assuming the trade executes at $13.50, you make a 35% gain on your long position (i.e., the difference between $10 and $13.50).
The key to using a trailing stop successfully is to set it at a level that is neither too tight (to prevent the trade getting stopped out before it has a chance to work) nor too wide (which, if triggered, may result in giving back a significant portion of unrealized profit).

المحطة المُلاحِقَةُ هي " أمر محطة " يمكن وضعه عند نسبة محددة بعيداً عن سعر السوق الحالي لورقةٍ ماليةٍ ما.
يضع المستثمر محطةً مُلاحِقَةً لأي مركز شرائي أولاً
(Long Position)
تحت سعر السوق الحالي
بينما لأي مركز بيعي أولاً
(Short Position)
توضَع فوق السعر الحالي.
أي محطة ملاحِقَة مُصَمَّمَة لوقاية الأرباح عبر تمكين صفقةٍ ما من البقاء مفتوحةً ومستمرةً في الربح طالما السعر يتحرك في مصلحة المستثمر وتُغلِق الصفقة إذا غير السعرُ اتجاهَهُ بنسبةٍ معينةٍ. يمكن أن تنص المحطة الملاحقة على مبلغ دولاري محدد بدلاً من النسبة المحددة.
المحطة المُلاحِقَة أكثر مرونة من أمر وقف الخسارة الثابت (غير القابل للتحريك) لأنها تقتفي أثر اتجاه سعر السهم وما مِن حاجَةٍ لإعادة ضبطها يدوياً (يحدث مع أمر وقف الخسارة الثابت). مُشابِهَةً لكل أوامر المحطات ، أي محطة مُلاحِقَة تفرض نظام متاجرة عبر إزالة المشاعر من قرار البيع وهو ما يُمَكِّن المتاجرين/المتداولين والمستثمرين من وقاية الأرباح وكذا رأسَ المالِ المُستَثمَر.
يستطيع المستثمرون استخدام المحطات المُلاحِقَةِ لفئات أصول أخرى مثل الفوركس (سوق صرف العملات) والعملات الرقمية. مثل كل أوامر المحطات، يمكن وضع أوامر المحطات كأوامر محددة السعر أو أوامر بسعر السوق. على عكس أوامر المحطات التقليدية التي توضع في دفتر السوق في البورصة تُرصَد المحطات المُلاحِقَة على منصات تداول شركات السمسرة. يمكن أيضاً أن تُبَرمَجَ المحطاتِ المُلاحِقَةَ ضمن استراتيجيات تداول خوارزمية.
مثال لمحطة مُلاحِقَة :
افترض أنك اشتريت سهماً بعشرة دولارات. يمكنك وضع محطة 15 % مُلاحِقَة لوقاية رأسمالَك وهو ما يعني أن السعر إذا تراجع 15 % أو أكثر فإن المحطة المُلاحِقَة تُفَعَّل وبالتالي تقليل خسارتك لأقصى حد. تَصَوَّر أن السهم تحرك لأعلى ووصل إلى أربعة عشر دولاراً في الشهور القليلة التالية وفيما استمتعتَ بحُسن تقديرك للسهم ساوَرَكَ الآن القَلَقُ من احتمال نكوصه (تخليه) عن تلك الأرباح. تَذَكَّر أن محطتكَ المُلاحِقَة في موضعها، إذاً ، إذا اندفع السهم هابطاً 15 % أو أكثر فسوف تُفَعَّل المحطة. يمكنك اتخاذ قرار بتقريب المحطة الملاحقة إلى 10 % لوقاية أكبر قدر ممكن من الربح مع وجود مجال لا بأس به للمركز كي يتحرك.
لنفترض أن السهم ارتفع حتى 15 دولاراً ثم انحدر بعد ذلك 10 % حتى 13.50 دولاراً. التراجع الذي مقداره 10 % سوف يُفَعِّل محطتكَ المُلاحِقَة وبافتراض التنفيذ الفعلي للصفقة عند 13.50 دولاراً تكون قد حققت 35 % ربحاً من مركزك الشرائي أولاً (وهو الفارق بين 10 دولارات و13.50 دولاراً).
المبدأ الرئيسي لاستخدام المحطة المُلاحِقَة بنجاح هو وضعها عند مستوى لا هو بالقريب المُلاصِق (لمنع الصفقة من أن يُخرَج منها كُلِّيَّاً قبل أن تحصل على الفرصة لكي تنجح) ولا بالبعيد الشاسع (والذي عند تفعيل المحطة قد ينجم عنه التخلي عن حصة ضخمة من أرباح غير مُحَقَّقَة ).

The term derivative describes a financial contract that “derives” its value from some other investment vehicle, often called the underlying. The primary use for derivatives is to hedge against risk of loss in the underlying or to speculate with high leverage. Aside from the risk of loss from the hedge or speculation decreasing in value, both hedging and speculation take on additional risks such as counterparty risk, the risk that the party on the other side of the derivative contract may fail to deliver. However, most derivatives have not had this problem, and are used principally to transfer risk between investing parties. In this sense, derivatives are thought to cushion economic downturns. In specific instances, however, the derivative market increased
volatility, as occurred during the “insurance programs” in 1987, when equity portfolio managers to protect against losses in their portfolios sold S&P 500 futures as the market declined and thus contributed further to the market decline that turned into a crash in prices not seen ever before.
The most common derivatives are futures, options, and swaps, traded either on exchanges, where their prices are visible, or over the counter, where their prices are hidden. The principal underlying vehicles are commodities, equities, FOREX, interest rates, and credit markets.

إن المصطلح مشتقات يصف أحد العقود المالية الذي يَشتَقُّ قيمته من وسيلة استثمارية أخرى والتي يطلق عليها غالباً مَحِلُّ العقد . إن الاستخدام الأوَّلي للمشتقات هو التحوط ضد مخاطر الخسارة المتولدة عن مَحِل العقد، أو المضاربة برافعة مالية عالية. علاوةً على مخاطر الخسارة من التحوط أو المضاربة المتناقصة القيمة يضطلع كلُّ من التحوط والمضاربة بـمهام تتحدى فيها مخاطر إضافية مثل مَخاطر الطرف المقابل وهي المخاطر المتعلقة باحتمال إخفاق الطرف الآخر للعقد في التسليم. رغم ذلك فإن معظم المشتقات لم تتعرض البتة لتلك المشكلة وتُستَخدَم من حيث المبدأ لنقل المخاطر بين طرفي العملية الاستثمارية. على هذا يُنظَر إلى المشتقات على أنها وسائل لتلطيف أثر حركات الانكماش الاقتصادي. في حالات محددة، زادت سوقُ المشتقات من الـمَورِ (التقلب)، كما حدث خلال برامج التأمين في العام 1987، حين باعَ مُدَراءُ محافظ الأوراق المالية - للوقاية من الخسارة في محافظهم - العقودَ المستقبلية لمؤشر ستاندَرد آند بورز500 في ظل تراجع السوق و شاركوا بذلك في تراجع السوق أكثرَ فأكثر والذي تحول بعد ذلك لانهيارٍ سعري لم يُرَ مِثله مِن قَبل.
المشتقات الأكثر شيوعاً هي العقود المستقبلية وعقود الخيارات وعقود المقايضة والتي تُتَداوَل إمَّا في البورصات حيث تكون أسعارها مرئية وإمَّا بالتفاوض والتسليم المباشر حيث تكون أسعارها غير معلنة. الوسائل الاستثمارية الأساسية محل التعاقد هي السلع والأوراق المالية وسوق العملات الأجنبية وأسعار الفائدة وأسواق الائتمان.

Realizing the Arabs' need to translated books in the field of technical analysis, and seeking to rectify the related overwhelming mis-translations, in 2007, I've translated my first technical analysis book, ″Japanese candlesticks charting techniques″ as ″براعة الشموع اليابانية في تحليل الخرائط البيانية″. This book was published in 2008, the same year that I started working for a well-known brokerage company as a broker.
My second book was ″Charting Made Easy″ as ″التحليل الفني مُيَسَّـرَاً″ in 2009. Both Arabic editions are now on the world wide web for free.
In 2010, I became an affiliate Chartered Market Technician after passing the first level exam of Market Technician Association ″now, CMT Association″, it is an global American association for technical analysts.
My third book is ″Technical Analysis :The Complete Resource for Financial Market Technicians, second edition″, of 232,310 English words, as ″المَنبَعُ الدَّفــَّاق في عِلمِ التحليل الفـَنـِّيِّ للأسواق″, an Arabic book 1094 Arabic pages.
