English to Russian: Dust If You Must General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear, and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world’s out there,
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come round again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go – and go you must –
You, youself, will make more dust.
Translation - Russian

Bio
Despite being qualified as an English translator, I also possess practical experience of interpreting and voice-over. During my MBA studies I had to deal with cost & financial accounting, entrepreneurship & marketing and economics. Those were primarily small non-paid jobs that involved both translating and interpreting sessions (consecutive and simultaneous ones). I have experience in making and translating poetry, primarily verses (ENG -> RU). Lately, I have been involved heavily in the topics of start-ups, blockchain, non-fungible tokens, initial coin offering et cetera. The volume of my vocabulary and cultural understanding ranges from informal gaming speech (gg wp ez, lol, fubar, tl;dr, press "f" etc.) to more serious academic language, learnt from reading hundreds of publications in Scopus, EmeraldInsights, Academy of Management, ScienceDirect and so on.
Currently, I am working on acing the second foreign language - French. Although there are no significant achievements, it serves as a robust backbone to my main English-Russian language pair. To maintain the quality of the languages I constantly engage in various activities, exempli gratia: reading books and publications in native language, watching YouTube videos of foreign content creators, playing video games in the original languages and practicing foreign speech with my colleagues. The range of my interest includes, but not limited to: arts (music and painting in particular), finance & money, economics, robotics and mechanics, cars and vehicles, computers, video-games, distributed ledger technologies (DLT), sports, linguistics and history. Do not be discouraged if the topic of your concern is missing - I like working on various things but am unable to mention them all here. Feel free to ask about them.
