Bio
I'm Wema, a seasoned linguist with over seven years of experience in language projects. My academic journey began in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where I earned a State diploma in French Literature from Metanoia Institute in 2009 and a linguistic diploma from the University of Goma in 2011.
My professional journey kicked off as a Call Centre Agent from April 2020 to August 2021. During this period, I excelled in managing a high volume of calls, troubleshooting devices, and fostering long-term customer relationships.
Transitioning seamlessly into the role of Translator/Interpreter, subtitle maker, and transcriber from January 2014 to March 2020, I provided language translation services in diverse pairs, offering legal and medical on-phone simultaneous interpreting. With expertise in audio transcription, editing, proofreading, voice-over recording, and subtitle creation, I demonstrated a comprehensive skill set.
From August 2018 to October 2019, I ventured into freelance translation and audio transcription, showcasing proficiency in Swahili to English translation, search relevance services, and adhering to client guidelines with precision. My language translation services expanded to cover English to Congo-Swahili, Mashi, Bembe, Lingala, and Tshiluba translations, along with audio and video transcriptions. Proficient in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, I excelled in document preparation and translation.
