English to Tagalog: The Shadow in the Attic General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English The Shadow in the Attic
On a stormy night in the quiet town of Blackwood, Sarah heard the familiar creak of the attic stairs. She was home alone, nestled on the couch with a book when the sound sent chills down her spine. The attic had always felt eerie, filled with forgotten memories and dust-laden boxes. Her parents warned her never to venture up there, but curiosity gnawed at her.
As lightning illuminated the room, she saw a fleeting shadow dart past the attic window. Heart pounding, she hesitated, then grabbed a flashlight and climbed the stairs. Each step echoed, amplifying her anxiety.
Reaching the attic door, she paused, catching her breath. “It’s just the wind,” she whispered to herself. Mustering her courage, she opened the door, the rusty hinges creaking in protest. The flashlight beam cut through the darkness, revealing old furniture and cobwebs.
But something felt off. A heavy silence hung in the air, interrupted only by the distant sound of rain. Then she heard it—a soft whisper, almost like a plea. “Help me.” It was faint but unmistakable.
Trembling, Sarah turned in the direction of the sound. Her heart raced as she approached a large trunk, half-hidden beneath a dusty tarp. As she reached for the lid, the whisper grew louder, more urgent. “Please… don’t leave me.”
Just as she was about to lift the trunk's lid, the attic door slammed shut behind her. Panic surged through her. She was trapped. The whisper turned into a chilling laugh, echoing through the darkness.
In that moment, Sarah realized she wasn’t alone. Something sinister was watching her, waiting.
Ngunit may kakaiba.
"Pakiusap... huwag mo akong iwan."
