Taking into account that my education is a linguistic type I had to (and liked to) use my knowledge of English both as my duty and my personal desire in the majority of my formal and non formal activities. Very frequently I was involved in various translation assignments in various fields of technologies. For the last five years, when I became a free lancer only, I was involved in a number of large-scale assignments on translation manuals for highly sophisticated electrical discharge machining equipment based on NC (totally 3 slightly different models, whose Manuals were above 1200 pages thick each). I also was assigned to translate a book by a group of Japanese authors on TPM (Total Ptoduction Management), which was a volume of about 600 pages. These assignments were entrusted to me by an organisation in Moscow that is one of the first range scientific and production institutions of the field of jet engines for aviation.
There were an infinite number of smaller assighments in various fields knowledge among which there were fields of highly sophisticated medical equipment, pharmacia (Russian-English translation), etc.
My primary translation experience was related with works in the automotive and tractor building industries (5 years long). For the next 5 years I worked in the Ministry of instrument building, means of automation and computer control systems. After that I was sent to a long business trip to Irac where I worked as a translator at a contract on construction of a water pumping system for an increase of a oil field debit. I also had a smaller translation experience on an oil well drilling site.
