Background:
I have a Degree in Law (MA) and did my thesis in EU Law after extensive studies in International (Public and Private) Law and Common Law. After my High School Diploma in Accountancy, I worked many years as a civil servant for the City Council of Rome. I spent long holidays in Ireland and in London, then lived (1993) in France, on the Côte d’Azur.
My knowledge of English and French, two of my favourite subjects at school, progressed thanks to on site full-immersion supported by lots of reading. Also a sailor, I cruised the Brittany, Italian and Spanish coasts as co-skipper with local crews, gaining an excellent understanding of sailing and boating matters and a deep knowledge of nautical vocabulary.
After moving to Barcelona, I honed my Spanish and immersed myself in the study and practice of the Catalan language. For both Spanish and Catalan I have diplomas from the Barcelona “Escuela Oficial de Idiomas”.
After my first translations, to became a good professional I attended specialized workshops on translation for publishing, technical writing, editing. I started interpreting during meetings and trade shows, then as my abilities progressed I was requested at technical training, recordings, interviews and conferences.
I still sail on classic and modern boats, one of the perks of living by the sea.
