I am a reliable language professional with demonstrated experience in translation, subtitling, proofreading, and transcription. I am currently completing my PhD in contemporary French literature at the University of Auckland where I also teach some of the undergrad language acquisition classes. Some recent projects I have worked on are: - Subtitling the opening address for an environmental forum
- Translation of video scripts and/or subtitling HR/in-house marketing videos for a large European company
- Translation of a media kit for a large motorsport event
- Subtitling of marketing videos for a large motorsport event
- Translation of website content for a French vineyard
- Subtitling French news videos for in-house use
- Subtitling journalistic videos
Translating from one language to another can sometimes produce texts that are quite obviously a translation. I strive to reproduce your text so that it looks, reads, and sounds like it has always been in English. Furthermore, being a great translator also means being an even better proofreader. While I will always include proofreading in my quote for translation and/or subtitling, standalone proofreading projects can be arranged (including for translations done by other translators). So, if you just need a proofreading service, then let's discuss how I can help you. I can also offer localization services. If your text is already in English but needs to be adapted for a particular regional audience. Having grown up in both Scotland and New Zealand, I can take texts that are in North American English and localize these for either the UK, Scotland, or New Zealand. Lastly, if you need a fast, accurate and reliable transcription service, this is also a service I offer. You can opt for a verbatim transcript (word-for-word) or what we call a "clean" transcript that retains the overall dialogue while omitting fillers (um, ah, like) and other non-essential utterances.
