Source text - English Editing Records And Adding Records to the Database
To add a record, click in the ‘Telephone” field space. You can use the “tab” and “up arrow” and “down arrow” keys to move from record to record.
The program automatically formats the telephone number, the
first name the last name for you. Just enter the information. The telephone number will be formatted as (763) 555-1212, and the first name and last name will be put in all capital letters. You are required to enter at least a first name or a last name.
Enter the house number, apartment number, street name and city name. The program, automatically abbreviates certain words such as street, avenue, east, north, curve, boulevard, etc., when they are typed in and spelled out completely. All words are automatically put in capital letters.
The “location” field is a specialized field for the database. You use this field to enter a number that is assigned to a street. The program will sort the streets using this number. Since you are just entering new records, type the number 70000 in the location field.
When you have finished entering the information for a new record, click on the “Add” button at the bottom of the “Record to Add” box. This will put the record into this box, and it will be marked to be added to the database. When you are done entering all of the new records, click on the “Finish” button. This will add all of the new records showing in the “Records to Add” box to the database. As confirmation that all of the records have been added to the database successfully, the message shown in Figure 2 will appear.
