Bio

Hello,

I'm a native speaker of German with an undergraduate degree in translation science from the University of Heidelberg (Germany). My languages are English, Spanish and German, and during my studies at Heidelberg University I specialized in the translation of medical and scientific texts and law (final examination in the Harmonization of European law). In Germany I also obtained a license as a consecutive interpreter of English and German and have been certified for the language pair English into German by proz.com. In 2021 I was CCHI certified in the US (Core Certification Healthcare Interpreter).

During my career I have used my language skills in many different contexts. As an inhouse translator I started out translating automotive and IT related texts, became a sworn translator and interpreter for the Frankfurt regional court and in addition, worked as a language teacher.

After completing a second university degree in social work I was employed in a dual role as a medical interpreter and social worker in the project Migration and AIDS at Frankfurt University hospital.  After this project ended, I worked several years in international contexts with DED, UNAIDS, United Nations Volunteers, and Doctors without Borders Holland abroad.

Subsequently, I started working as a freelance translator and interpreter again and have since been translating mainly user manuals for medical devices including programming instructions, texts concerning clinical trials, and legal documents about company policies, data protection, the Modern Slavery Act or policies on kickbacks and bribery.
