I opened up Word to start translating and all of the buttons and icons for Wordfast were gone! I still have my wfmemory files (thank God!).

What can I do? I know I had 3 years left on my license.

Please Help,
Ryan Montcalm

Tools > Templates May 25, 2007

Hi,

In Microsoft Word try to go to Tools > Templates and Add ons..., and there tick wordfast.dot.
(I have a Czech version so maybe it's not called "Templates..." in the English version, but it should be the fourth item from the bottom in the Tools menu.)

Thanks, you saved my life! May 25, 2007

Dear Prokop,

That did the trick. I am very thankful for your help. I still don't know what caused this to happen. I've been using Wordfast for a year now and has never done this.

Thanks again!

You're welcome! May 25, 2007

I'm glad I could help. Computers sometimes do weird things

In this way you can always switch on/off your templates such as wordfast or plus tools.

Hi Prokop, May 26, 2007

You seam te understand this topic, for me it is the other way around.

I would like to remove wordfast completely from my toolbar, but even after removing the wordfast files (ini, .dot ) it remains in there.
Do I do any harm if I just remove all wf templates?

Hope you can/will answer

Best regards
Marlou

Removing templates should work May 26, 2007

Hi Marlou,

My Wordfast manual says:
To uninstall Wordfast, close MS-Word, and then find and delete the following files Wordfast.dot, Wordfast.doc and Wordfast.ini.
That's probably what you already did, so that should be all you need.

Anyway, if you open MS-Word and go to the Tools > Templates and Add ons... menu, you can click on the wordfast.dot template and click Remove on the right. This should not affect your Word's default template (Normal.dot) at all.<

Try this and let me know whether it worked.

It worked! May 26, 2007

Thanks very much! You made it sound simple.
I discovered I still had a wordfast.dot file. After removal, the Wordfast toolbar had indeed dissappeared.

Thanks,
Marlou

Thank you! Nov 7, 2012

Got a huge shock this morning when Wordfast had disappeared completely from Word. Thanks for the Tools - Templates tip! Now everything is working properly again.
