            • A "bit part" played by a famous actor who would ordinarily not take such a small part. Originally meaning "a small piece of artwork", the term was borrowed by director Michael Anderson when attempting to attract famous actors to play bit parts in Around the World in 80 Days. Η έκτακτη εμφάνιση (κυρίως σε μεγάλες παραγωγές του εξωτερικού) είναι η εμφάνιση στην ταινία ενός διάσημου αστέρα, που κατά κανόνα δεν θα έπαιρνε τέτοιο ρόλο. Έχοντας αρχικά το νόημα του "καμεό" (μικρό σκαλιστό κόσμημα), τον όρο δανείστηκε ο Μάικλ Άντερσον όταν επιχειρούσε να βρει διάσημους ηθοποιούς για μικρούς ρόλους στην ταινία του "Ο γύρος του κόσμου σε 80 ημέρες". Πιο αναλυτικά, ο ρόλος μπορεί να είναι ενός κομπάρσου, ή μπορεί να είναι ομιλών, χωρίς όμως να έχει μεγάλη σημασία για την υπόθεση της εκάστοτε ταινίας. Τα τελευταία χρόνια τέτοιες έκτακτες εμφανίσεις κάνουν και παράγοντες της ταινίας που εργάζονται πίσω από τις κάμερες (σκηνοθέτες, σεναριογράφοι), και οι ρόλοι αυτοί ενώ δεν εξυπηρετούν κάτι σημαντικό στην ταινία, δίνονται ως αναγνώριση ή ως "χατίρι" στους παράγοντες αυτούς.
