- Tintenfestigkeit (Leimungsgrad)
Nach DIN 53126 bedeutet dies der Widerstand, den Papier dem Auslaufen und Durchschlagen von Tinte entgegensetzt.
Prüfung: Kreuzweise Tintenstriche ziehen. Verläuft die Tinte nicht und schlägt auch nicht durch, gilt das Papier als tintenfest.
Als nicht tintenfest gilt ein Papier, wenn die Tinte verläuft, insbesondere an den Kreuzungsstellen, und auf die Rückseite des Papiers durchschlägt.Diese Prüfung gibt einen Hinweis auf die Leimung des Papiers. Unterschieden werden
ungeleimte, ¼-, ½-, ¾- und 1/1-geleimte Papiere. Der Grad der Saugfähigkeit bzw. Leimung lässt sich auch durch die Schnelligkeit des Wegschlagens von Wasser ermitteln.

Papiere die beschrieben werden sollen, müssen tintenfest sein. Man bezeichnet sie als vollgeleimt oder leimfest. Durch die Leimung wird den Papieren außerdem ein festeres Gefüge gegeben. Der Leimungsgrad bestimmt also die Saugfähigkeit und Aufnahmefähigkeit für Tinten, Toner, Druckfarben. Die Leime, die den Papieren zugesetzt werden, haben keine klebrigen Eigenschaften (Klebstoffe), sondern durch die Verharzung des Leims in den Kapillaren nach der Blattbildung wird ein späteres Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit verhindert.
