بیابانزایی چیست؟
بیابانزایی؛ یعنی تخریب زمینها در مناطق خشک، نیمهخشک و نیمهمرطوب تحتتأثیر عوامل اقلیمی و انسانی. این تخریب میتواند سبب از بین رفتن پوشش گیاهی و پیدایش شرایط بیابانی شود و بر گسترش و قلمرو بیابانها بیفزاید. البته نواحی تبدیل شده به بیابان، توان قابل ملاحظهای دارند و میتوان آنها را با مدیریت منظم، برنامهریزی اصولی و هدایت شده و حفاظت آب، بازسازی کرد.
چنین مناطقی در سطح کرهزمین وسعتی برابر 21 میلیون کیلومتر مربع دارد که حدود بیست درصد خشکیها را در برمیگیرد. گرمترین آنها صحرای افریقای شمالی و سردترین آنها صحرای گوبی مغولستان است. در جهان سیزده بیابان وجود دارد و دشت کویر و دشت لوت ایران، از مهمترین بیابانهای جهان به شمار میروند.

by Farzad Akmali - اجازه مي خواهم از تشريح عوامل بيابان زايي نظير بوته كني، چرای مفرط و خارج از فصل دام در مراتع ، تبديل مراتع به ديمزار، برداشت بي رويه آب از سفره هاي آب زيرزميني، معدن كاوي و بهره برداري از معادن، جاده سازي و توسعة شهرها و روستاها و امثال آن كه ساليان سال گفتيم و نوشتيم خودداري كنم و به يكي دو مورد از موارد حاد آن بپردازم و سپس راههاي مهار و كنترل آن را از نگاهي ديگر (اگر نگويم جديدتر) بيان كنم.
