- Ostrość obrazu w sensie optycznym – to pojęcie oddające relację między oryginałem a niedoskonałym jego odwzorowaniem w obrazie. Funkcją opisującą najlepiej tę relację jest rozdzielczość obrazu. Dla obrazów ekranowych wyraża się ją w liczbie punktów obrazu przypadających na jednostkę długości, np. dpi albo pikseli/cm. Dla wydruków wyraża się ją [podobnie jak dla fotogramów] w liczbie linii rozróżnianych w jednostce długości, np. lpi [lines per inch] albo linii/cm. owoc.net/miroslaw - by M.A.B.
