Guargummi (guarmjöl) utvinns från frön av baljväxten Cyamopsis tetragonoloba - en gammal kulturväxt i Indien och Pakistan. Fröna används i dessa länder som näringsmedel och som förtjockningsmedel i modern matindustri.
