- Permafrostgebiete werden untergliedert in Zonen kontinuierlichen und diskontinuierlichen
Permafrostes. Bei kontinuierlichem Permafrost ist mehr als 90% des Gebietes von Permafrost
unterlagert. Er kann bis mehrere 100 m in die Tiefe reichen, so z.B. in Teilen Sibiriens. In diskontinuierlichem
