- Definition(s)
- a measure of how much of an administered drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, actually reaching the intended site of action in the body. For example, medicine is absorbed from the GI tract, travels through the bloodstream, and reaches the organ tissues, where it works to fight infection, prevent rejection, etc. USC Kidney Transplant Program
- Example sentence(s)
- Differences in bioavailability among formulations of a given drug can have clinical significance; thus, knowing whether drug formulations are equivalent is essential.
- Merck & Co., Inc. by
- The term “relative bioavailability” refers to a comparison of two or more dosage forms in terms of their relative rate and extent of absorption. If an intravenous injection is employed as the reference dose, one can determine the absolute bioavailability of the test dosage form. - Informa plc by
- Drug candidates can be tested for their desired therapeutic activity, but it is not yet possible to predict whether or not a compound will have sufficient bioavailability to be useful and practical. - US National Institutes of Health by

- Was versteht man unter Bioverfügbarkeit?
Bärenapotheke - by Bensaid
- Example sentence(s)
- Wikipedia by Bensaid
