Delvis hydrolysert guarkjernemel er et nytt næringsmiddel i Norge ("Ny mat"). "Ny mat" omfatter mange ulike typer matvarer det ikke er tradisjon for i Norge. Slike matvarer skal alltid godkjennes av Mattilsynet før de kan markedsføres og selges.
Produktet lages ved bearbeiding av guargummi, som kommer fra frøene til guarplanten. Guarplanten er en belgplante som ligner på soya. Delvis hydrolysert guarkjernemel fordøyes ikke, og produktet skal brukes som tilskudd av kostfiber til kostholdet. - Matportalen by Rannheid Sharma
