- Definition(s)
- Short-term joblessness associated with mobility. A person who leaves a job to find something better is considered frictionally unemployed. This type of unemployment characterizes workers subject to seasonal work (e.g., construction, agricultural, winter recreational workers, etc.). John S. Irons, Washington DC
- Example sentence(s)
- Technological change often reduces frictional unemployment, for example: the internet made job searches cheaper and more comprehensive. - EconomicExpert.com
by - Frictional unemployment is that unemployment caused by information or search costs. Usually when a person quits, is fired, or enters the labor market, there are jobs available for which that person is qualified. The person will be frictionally unemployed because it takes time (and effort) to find the jobs that are available. - Robert Schenk
by - Finding the open positions and workers available is a large factor in frictional unemployment, even in this Great Recession.

Centrul Român pentru Educatie Economic - by George C.
- Example sentence(s)
- Univ. Al. I. Cuza Iaşi
* factori sezonieri: în baza acestora cererea de locuri de muncă variind în funcţie de vreme şi de perioada din an, un exemplu concludent fiind reprezentat de activitatea din construcţii, de turism etc;
* factori geografici: ce influenţează oferta de forţă de muncă în funcţie de amplasarea geografică a locurilor de muncă; oferta de forţă de muncă neavând o elasticitate ridicată faţă de acest factor;
* factori structurali: restructurarea unor domenii de activitate din cadrul unei economii presupune automat şi o recalificare a forţei de muncă, deoarece, de cele mai multe ori, cei disponibilizaţi nu-şi pot găsi un alt loc de muncă pe vechiul domeniu de activitate;
* factori discriminatori: în ciuda evoluţiei economice, culturale şi sociale înregistrate la nivel mondiale, mai apar, încă, discriminări în ceea ce priveşte ocuparea unui loc de muncă, discriminări datorate fie naţionalităţii, fie rasei, fie opţiunilor politice şi religioase, fie datorate vârstei sau sexului. Toate acestea conduc la o majorare a şomajului fricţional.

lemmata - by Kim Metzger
- Example sentence(s)

Wikipedia - by FX Fraipont (X)
