Behavioral targeting uses information collected on an individual‘s web browsing behavior such as the pages they have visited or the searches they have made to select which advertisements to be displayed to that individual. El Behavioral Targeting (també conegut com BT) és una tècnica de segmentació en base al comportament o navegació dels usuaris. Per aconseguir-ho utilitza sistemes avançats de permeten recollir l’activitat dels usuaris durant la seva navegació pel web, conèixer quins continguts llegeixen, quan de temps hi dediquen, amb quina freqüència els consulten, quines paraules concretes busquen… Així doncs, aquests sistemes permeten conèixer els interessos dels usuaris a l’hora de navegar pel web i, per tant, es creen diferents perfils.
