Im Mobilfunk-Jargon wird dieser Weg "Side-Loading" genannt, weil das Handy-Netz nach Ansicht der Branche den "Vordereingang" zum Telefon darstellt. Der "Nebeneingang" wird laut Dickson das Nutzerverhalten solange bestimmen, wie die Handy-Netzbetreiber auch am Datentransfer für mobile Downloads richtig verdienen wollen. Denn warum sollten die Nutzer überteuerte Datentarife bezahlen, wenn sie ihr Telefon schneller und kostenlos mittels des vertrauten USB-Kabels mit Musik bestücken können? Laut iSuppli werden schon 2010 so gut wie alle Handy-Modelle über einen USB-Anschluss verfügen.

Nel mondo dell'informatica il sideload (letteralmente "caricamento di lato"; in italiano, "trasferimento locale") è l'azione compiuta trasferendo dati tra due dispositivi locali, in particolare tra un computer e un dispositivo mobile come un telefono_cellulare, uno smartphone o un palmare. Il trasferimento generalmente avviene per mezzo di una connessione USB o Bluetooth, o copiando i dati su una scheda di memoria che poi viene inserita nel dispositivo mobile. wikipedia - by puntomaupunto
