Bio

Hello, (I am known by some clients as Ana and by others as Letty)

I live in Guatemala, Central America, and I am a native Spanish speaker and I translate and interpret in English and Spanish. Therefore, the languages I work in are English into Spanish. I passed my certification exam to become a Sworn Translator in 2006; it was granted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Guatemala. I graduated from Del Valle de Guatemala University with an Associate Degee in English Language Teaching. Such a degree opened a new perspective: teaching translation. I later obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Translation from Mariano Galvez University. I recently completed specialized programs in simultaneous and conference interpreting at the USAL of Argentina and UIC of Puebla, Mexico. I also have worked as a church interpreter and as an escort interpreter for delegations and individuals from different organizations.

I am a passionate translator and interpreter, with a love for education and respect for proper language application. During these years I have worked in translation and interpreting for international organizations, government agencies, educational programs, and business affairs.

Services:

  • Translation (English into Spanish / Spanish into Q'eqchí'-this last one provided by my husband)
  • Proofreading of translated materials, initially written in Spanish.
  • Localization (Guatemala and Central America)
  • Cognitive debriefing for the medical area (patient recruitment and interviews)
  • Simultaneous, escort, and consecutive interpretation.

Labor Experience:

  • International organizations specialized in persons with disabilities, livelihood, development, educational programs, food security and nutrition, clean cookstoves, religion, emissions, fuels, forests, and international cooperation.
  • Corporative translation, like manuals, Human Resources, auditing processes, standards management systems, agreements, etc.
  • Public documents (marriage, divorce, birth, death), school, and university transcripts.
  • Churches and faith organizations (catholic and evangelical) that request interpretation for sermons and mission groups.
  • Volunteer translator.

I hope we could work together in the near future.
