“レバレッジ”とは、直訳すると「てこの力」という意味になります。転じて、経済用語として「借りたお金を元本に（その借りた額以上の）投機的な取引をする」という意味で用いられます。さらに転じて（借りたお金かどうかにかかわらず）「元本に対する投機的取引金額の倍率」を表わす言葉としてもよく用いられています。FXの世界では、“レバレッジ”という単語を主にこちらの意味で用いています。
