SISTEMUL (MODELUL) AEROPORT CENTRAL/AEROPORT-PIVOT/AX ŞI SPIŢE/RAZE
In cazul rutelor radiale rutele au aspectul unor raze sau spite (spoke), care pornesc din aeroportul central (hub), prin care se face legatura cu un numar mare de aeroporturi situate la distante diverse, in tari diverse. Acest tip de ruta permite cresterea numarului de perechi de aeroporturi care sunt puse in legatura, fara a se deschide rute suplimentare. Sistemul HUB AND SPOKE a aparut in SUA unde companiile aeriene nu-si puteau permite financiar, sa deserveasca toate aeroporturile cu o frecventa maxima a transporturilor de tip oras-oras. Aeroporturile HUB asigura serviciile transcontinentale si intercontinentale, in timp ce aeroporturile SPOKE sunt regionale, ele asigurand legaturile pt. distantele lungi, fiind deci intermediari (Studentie.ro)
