Sexism, homophobia and transphobia are pervasive, making it dangerous to be gender nonconforming. Non conformità di genere
Per una prima definizione, credo sia necessario chiarire la differenza che c’è tra “non conformità di genere” e disforia di genere. La prima èuna percezione della propria identità di genere o espressione di genere - come diversa rispetto a quanto sancito dalle norme socio-culturali per un determinato sesso biologico. La seconda invece si caratterizza per il disagio, lo stress, l'angoscia provati da una persona nel vivere l'incongruenza tra la propria identità di genere e il genere assegnato alla nascita come conseguenza del sesso biologico di appartenenza (Standards of Care, Wpath). È possibile, qualora diagnosticata, occuparsi della disforia di genere, ovvero il disagio e la sofferenza causati dalla discrepanza tra l’identità di genere percepita ed il genere assegnato alla nascita (pertanto si precisa che la non conformità di genere non va confusa con la disforia di genere).
