ومن المعلوم فان العومة وهي الأسماك الصغيرة الحجم لا تحظر الجهات المختصة صيدها، لكن الصيادين حين يأتون بكميات ضخمة منها يتركون بعضها على الشاطئ مما يؤدي لتلفها وحدوث تلوث بيئي خطير........
ومن وجهة نظر أحد الصيادين فان صيد العومة ينطوي على أخطار من أبرزها استنزاف الثروة السمكية ويقول الصياد على حسن: صحيح ان صيد العومة عمل مقبول لكنه يمثل نوعاً من الاستنزاف المفضي للقضاء على أحد أهم أصناف الأسماك. وتتضح أهمية أسماك العومة في انها تساعد على جذب الأسماك الكبيرة التي يبحث عنها الصيادون إلى الشواطئ
