ًWhat exactly is the meaning of "mootabbaleen" in this context? The whole sentence talks about a girl who is Christian and is attending a funeral in a mosque of a child killed by pro-government forces in Syria... The writer says:
وبدت هذه الفتاة وكأنها حجة على رجال الدين المسيحيين المطبلين
Does this mean that this girl is a proof (or an inspiration/reference) to the Christian clerics who support the government, or who make noise for the government?
Many thanks for any constructive feedback...

Cheerleading Priests/Clergies
المطبلاتية means people who permanently supports governmental actions and directs others as a result of such thoughtless support.
I believe this is one of the meanings of cheerleading (kindly check references below).
We use such term widely here in Egypt and personally I couldn't know it was widely used in other Arab countries.

Sorry I meant "I didn't know". And of course I meant the word المطبلين which sounds like المطبلاتية in Egypt.

: With all my respect to you Ahmed, your translation does not have a sound basis (the context does not offer such an interpretation), and it is so offensive and disrespectful.

Hi Haytham, I do respect Christianity and never think of writing offensive comments against it. The sentence was so obvious and talks about christian clerks who are "metabbeleen", a very ironic description indeed, so translation must be on the same level.

Christian celgymen who support the regime
The literal meaning ofمطبّلين is ‘drum beaters.’ In this context, it is used to denote ‘supporters’ of the regime or, more accurately, those who suck up to the regime. As for the word حجة , I think that it is an error – the writer probably meant احتجاج على

: مطبلين ...those who suck up to the regime....and it could be simply the 'hypocrites'

Thank you, May. I think that the intent is beyond hypocricy - they genuinely support the regime because they belive it actually serves their minority interests.
