I think Christine's and Don's answers are correct, but this is just another option if you want a more specialist medical term. (Also applies to other things such as attrition of teeth). If your 'wear and tear' doesn't strictly mean surfaces grinding against one another, this may not be the term for your context.

This is a common term that covers a wide range of general complaints.
Lots of hits...

or heavy work, but I think wear and tear is closest to 'nedslidning'
