explanation
When a product is used in a trial, the trial is blinded (as in blind - cannot see, do not know) so the patient and clinicians do not know what is being used until the end of the trial, when the trial is unblined, e.g. the name and properties of the product are revealed. The "supervisor" of the trial knows what the product is, and is usually the only one allowed to have this knowledge.
