English term

Eyrie

English to French Art/Literary Architecture Interior design
Dans le contexte suivant: Il s'agit d'une maison perchée sur une colline, donc je pense à "nid d'aigle".
Par ailleurs, j'ai trouvé les définitions suivantes:Noun 1. eyrie - the lofty nest of a bird of prey (such as a hawk or eagle) aerie, aery, eyry
bird nest, bird's nest, birdnest - nest where birds lay their eggs and hatch their young
2. eyrie - any habitation at a high altitude,
the native habitat or home of an animal or plant

Discussion

Sophie Raimondo (asker) Mar 2, 2009:
Hi Elen
The field is architecture. It is describing the work of an architect, regarding a house on a hill. This is a title, so it's not part of a sentence. Je vais probablement garder "nid d'aigle", c'est ce qu'il y a de plus évocateur en Français.
Ellen Kraus Mar 2, 2009:
are your sure that the field is architecture ? Could it also be a building on the top of a hill ? Please give the full sentence this word occurs in.

agree Catherine CHAUVIN : et peut-être aussi pour faire référence à l'aire de repos, mais là, en anglais, ça ne marche plus. :-)

Peer comments on this reference comment:

agree Sheila Wilson : My understanding is that it all relates back to the eagle - that's the image that comes to mind when the word is used
