L'assurance au tiers aussi appelée assurance responsabilité civile automobile est une obligation en France. Elle est la formule minimum pour rouler sur les routes du réseau public. Par respect des autres conducteurs et piétons, elle permet de régler les éventuels dégâts occasionnés lors d'un accident. Cette assurance a comme principal avantage d'être peu chère mais en contrepartie, elle couvre uniquement les dommages corporels ou matériels causés à un tiers, d'où son nom d'assurance au tiers.
