English term

and shall indemnify and hold Respondent

English to French Law/Patents Law (general) divorce decree
IT IS ORDERED AND DECREED that Petitioner shall pay, as a part of the division of the estate of the parties, the following and shall indemnify and hold Respondent and Respondent's property

It's a final decree of divorce from the State of Texas, that I am (still) translating into French. I am not sure that I completely understand the sentence. Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks!

thank you! You were right, this is the standard phrase you were talking about. Thank you so much for your help :)

the end of your sentence is necessarily missing for it to make any sense... this is a standard phrase and after 'hold', should come 'harmless' - if you search "indemnify" in Proz term search, you should find previous similar questions
Acorna (asker) Sep 13, 2006:
Actually, I don't know what comes after that. It seems that only the first and last two pages of the decree need to be translated and so I haven't the rest of it.

Is there anything further, after Respondent's property? E.g. "hold ... harmless"?
