Il semble s'agir ici pour "yield of gauge" du "nombre de patchs par unité de surface" (du film) que l'on peut assimiler à un "rendement" de tant de poids [de patchs] par unité de surface. La surface totale divisée par ce "rendement" donne bien le "poids" total de film nécessaire.
