English term
punitive tariffs
English to French
Law/Patents
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
Customs tariffs and duties
No specific context, it's widely used in EN... I already had to translate it but I can't remember what I came up with.
Existing translations are using:
- 'tarifs punitifs'
- 'droits dissuasifs' -> I'm leaning toward this one but 'dissuasive duties' also exist...
- 'droits compensateurs'
- 'taxes douanières'
- 'droits compensatoires punitifs'
- 'droits punitifs'
- 'tarifs répressifs'
None of which sounding entirely satisfying... There should definitely be a good entry for this in the Kudoz glossary!

Note from asker:
Merci FX ! J'ai utilisé ça même si je préférais 'dissuasifs', obligé de respecter les ghits (1400 vs 40) :) |

Thank you Tohid ! 'punitifs' was a good candidate too, I'm mostly sure that's what they use in Quebec, for one :) |
