English term

I am the affirmant of this affidavit

English to German Law/Patents Law (general) Affidavit
This affidavit was translated in Sri Lanka from Tamil to English. The wording is rather odd:
I, XXX, holder of Sri Lanka passport No 000, of (address), being a Buddhist solemnly, sincerely, and truly affirm do hereby declare as follows.
I am the affirmant of this affidavit

I'm not sure what is meant, so of course have no idea how to translate this. Prozzers' help would be greatly appreciated!

or something like this. To affirm is in german "versichern beteuern" and affidavit is in german "Eidesstattliche Erklärung".
Note from asker:
Thanks, Michael, "Unterzeichner" would seem to fit the ticket. My problem was with "affirmant", as I don't usually do this kind of translation and I couldn't find it in any of my dictionaries.
My grading in no way reflects on the validity of your answer, it only expresses a personal preference. Can't split the points, more is the shame!

agree Brandis (X) : I vouch for it, that is an affidavit and has legal standing.
