Hello all,

I am currently working on an ENG-GER translation of a "Proctoring Agreement", entered into between a manufacturer of medical devices and a hospital. The hospital provides "proctoring services" - it conducts classes in which it provides instructions to trainee physicians, and it conducts "Proctoring Workshops" to provide instruction, support and monitoring of the actual treatment of patients as performed by trainee physicians.

Can anybody tell me what "proctoring" actually is (in a medical context) and how I could translate it into German. I only know the term from sitting exams which are administered by a proctor - Prüfungsaufsicht - but that is clearly not the case here.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Die von dir zitierte Definition ist richtig. Aber der Begriff hat in den meisten F�llen mit Sozialarbeit gar nichts mehr zu tun.

Die Supervision ist ein auf das Arbeit- und Berufsleben zugeschnittener professioneller Beratungsansatz, der sich an Berufsleute in unterschiedlichen Arbeitsfeldern und unterschiedlichen Funktionen richtet. In meinem Kontext geht es aber darum, dass die Ärzte in Ausbildung lernen sollen, mit verschiedenen medizintechnischen Geräten umzugehen - das bescheuerte "Proctoring" kommt im gesamten Vertrag nur dreimal vor, leider aber in zwei Überschriften, deshalb kann ich nicht so einfach drüber hinweggehen. Danke aber auf alle Fälle für deinen Beitrag!"

Comment: "Dear Becktrad, no this is definitely not it. Proktologie is much to specific and does not fit the context at all. The "proctoring services" that are to be provided consist of classes, workshops etc. for trainiee physicians in all disciplies, not just internal medician. Nevertheless, thanks a lot for your contribution."
