डेटा के अस्थायी भंडारण स्थान को बफ़र कहते हैं। यह किसी सॉफ़्टवेयर प्रोग्राम, भंडारण सुविधा या हार्डवेयर डिवाइस के रूप में हो सकता है। डेटा को गंतव्य स्थान तक भेजने तक उसे अस्थायी रूप से बफ़र में रखा जाता है।
