English term

infusion

English to Hindi Other Other
Study drug will be administered by IV infusion (infused into your vein) on the first day of 2 week cycle. The first dose of study drug will be given as an infusion that lasts 90 minutes. If you tolerate the 90 minute infusion well, infusions in the future may be given over a shorter period.

I am at a loss to find a befitting Hindi equivalent of infusion in this context. Please suggest.

"Shira maarg se anupreshan" could be a term, which may not be a common man's term. But an another choice. Anupreshan is for Infusion.

disagree englishhindi : I am sorry to disagree but infusion can also be intraperitoneal, subcut, etc but I agree 100% to ANUPRESHAN if you please keep that in place of answer,Yes I know IV is for intravenous, but sir the target for translation is infusion only not IV infusion.

Kindly review the context, IV is a short form of intravenous.
agree Balasubramaniam L. : This is the most natural way of conveying the meaning of "infusion" in Hindi. Also this is how most laymen understand the term infusion. Excellent suggestion.

pravesh karnaa / pravisht honaa

प्रवेश करना/प्रविष्ट होना/प्रविष्टि

kindly do not confused with technicai term प्रविष्टि (pravishti) which means "Entry".
Here we can translate
infused into your vein= आपकी नस में प्रवेश/प्रविष्ट कराया गया
infusion that lasts 90 minutes= प्रविष्टि 90 मिनट तक रहती है

Peer comment(s):

agree englishhindi : agre but please modify karnaa to karwaana as infusion does not generaally happen spontaneously

nirantar pravesh karwana, pravesh karwaanaa

Infusion is to make a fluid enter into the body. Route of entry can be a vein, intraperitoneal, subcut and many more. It differs from the injection in a way that injection is given immediately while by Infusion is continous, slower than injection and involves more time. Total time taken depends on the rate of infusion. One common example is Intravenous infusion of fluids during dehydration.

IV means shira dvaaraa, infusion is nirantar pravesh. IV infusion of drug will mean SHIRA DVAARAA AUSHADHI KAA NIRANTAR PRAVESH

the word ANUPRESHAN from (Mr ARUN SINGH) COMBINED with ANTAHSHIRAA (ANT:SHIRA)----i.e. IV INFUSION being reffered to as ANTAHSHIRAA ANUPRASHAN will best suit.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Balasubramaniam L. : प्रवेश is too general and most people will understand it as entry. चढ़ाना as suggested by Arun is a much better term. In translation we don't always look for a word for word replacement, but choose words conveying the same m

thank you so much but I also want to clarify that Infusion means entry but in a continous manner and takes comparitively lomger time, so if the meaning is taken as entry, it is fine
