credo che questo sia il significato della frase, ovvero che quando la persona che sta parlando ha cominciato a lavorare, quelle posizioni (jobs) non esistevano ancora.

A parte la 's' finale in 'exists', che ovviamente è un refuso, il testo mi pare abbastanza comprensibile.
