Kasa rejestrująca – urządzenie elektroniczne, służące do rejestracji obrotu oraz kwot (podatku dochodowego i VAT) należnego ze sprzedaży detalicznej.
Niektóre z kas rejestrujących stosowanych na świecie nie posiadają pamięci fiskalnej lub nie stanowią one źródła naliczania podatku VAT, a dane o obrotach rejestrowane są w zewnętrznej zabezpieczonej pamięci, np. kraje takie jak: Szwecja, Serbia, niektóre kraje w Afryce.

Electronic Tax Register (ETR)
Also called the ‘Fiscal till’
• ETRs are similar to electronic cash registers
• Key difference: ETRs contain a fiscal memory
that captures core tax information, typically the
classification of goods, value of goods sold, rate
of tax, and tax value.
• The fiscal memory is non-volatile, meaning that
the memory is nor wiped or reset by loss of
power. It can be accessed only by an
appropriately authorized person with the
relevant electronic key, typically by the tax
administration, to download data for detailed
verification and analysis.
• May be GPRS enabled (i.e. enabled to send
data over the mobile telephone network)
• Limitation: ETRs typically cannot process
refunds, or transactions for returned good
