I am looking for a term to express an "on location" interview, meaning one that takes place e.g. at the location of the person being interviewed, as contrasted with an in-studio interview.

No, certainly not a "sittsynk"... ...but you might be able to use "in-situ interview" here....

Om det är själva intervjuformen som beskrivs tycker jag du kan använda uttrycket "på plats-intervju".

Är det en intervju du översätter kan du kanske skriva t.ex. "på plats på hans kontor" eller "på plats på tävlingsarenan" eller liknande.
