Abbreviations in translation from Indonesian
In a couple of birth and marriage certificates translated from Indonesian into English I have the abbreviations “Drs.” (before male names) and “Drg.” (before female names).
I guess they should/could mean “Mr” and “Mrs”, respectively, but I cannot be sure.
I appreciate any help.

By the way, although "doctorandus" seems to imply someone who is studying for a doctorate (and "doctorando" certainly means that in Spanish), the source cited above says that this is not so; it is just a graduate, the equivalent of "BA"/"BSc" (or Spanish "Lic."): a potential "doctorando" but not necessarily an actual one, so to speak.

The reference to "academic degree" indicates that "baccalaureate" here means "bachelor's degree".

| You are right, I have just realized that the Indonesian “doctorandus” is equivalent to the Spanish “licenciado” (a little bit above a bachelor’s degree). Thanks again. |

: 'Doctorandus' is a Dutch title, meaning someone with a Master's degree (and therefore a candidate to continue towards a Ph.D. ). I'm not so sure about your explanation of 'gigi'.

Thanks, Tina :) "Doktorandus" clearly comes from Dutch (like many terms in Indonesia), though it may not carry precisely the same sense as in the Netherlands. I am adding a note with more references.
