Hello everyone,
Society’s developments are characterized by rapid changes. Technical and professional solutions have a steadily reducing lifespan. In planning XXX prison, the basic idea has been to build a construction that offers the flexibility necessary to meet new challenges and ***correctional developments***. The goal is to be able to adopt new working methods and activities within the current building situation
Does "correctional developments" mean events/changes in prison life (in the activities of the prisons or in life of prsoners themselves)?
Thank you.

changes in the theory and practice of treatment of prisoners
Prisons in some countries are called "correctional" establishments. "Correction" here means reforming prisoners, reducing the chances of their re-offending. This is done partly by punishment and partly by educational and other measures to encourage prisoners to reform themselves. The balance between these two aspects may change, and such changes are at least part of what is meant by "developments" here.
