I cannot understand what "gene" stands in the "gene clamp" for?
There are not problems with clamp itself. Its gene-city? -rositiy? - that is the question.

Ah, now if you'd only SAID that this was to do with vintage vehicles, it would have been easier!
I'm certain this is in fact short for 'generator' --- older vehicles had a DC generator or dynamo, whereas modern vehcilse have AC ones, usually referred to as 'alternators'
