English Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing image, halftone, plates
...and hold down a shortcut key to create either a **castletop** or staircase staggered layout...

the context is image print proofing and "castletop" is an attribute of the layout to be printed. I'm looking for the meaning of the word in the specific case...
