I think "separate" is sufficient as a rendition of "désynchroniser".

As for what it means, I am as perplexed as DocteurPC, whose last two letters would appear to indicate greater knowledge of such things than my own!!!

Yeah I know. But it's techno speak. Unsych, Sych etc... Detatch Unhinge, un---anything: relate, coordinate whatever.

uncouple ....

Just another suggestion, really, 'cos I used it earlier in the week and felt it conveyed the notion quite well, since the meaning here is presumably to remove the interdependency, rather than the literal, temporal and technical meaning (despite the nature of the text, I think they've used unsynchronise as a hangover/knock-on effect FROM the technical nature of the text rather than literally).

I'm thinking that the meaning is to get the security measures out the way BEFORE the user gets cracking on what they are actually trying to DO. As against, say, asking for a password half way through a task/transaction/operation.
