In the context of tests on rail wagon axles:

"Les dépassements de contrainte sous charge de 20t et 21 t/e se situent aux extrémités des doublantes (escalopes), quelles soient d'origine ou de renforcement.

I'm using linings for "doublantes", but can't find any references to "escalopes" used in a technical sense. Has anyone ever come across this?
