French term

impots preleves, and the verb pallier

French to English Bus/Financial Law: Taxation & Customs refunding expenses

It's from an employee incentive agreement for working overtime. The rest of it was easy but i want to make sure i get the right sense for this phrase.

Peer comment(s):

agree rkillings : with 'offset' *here*, BUT they are offsetting only the amount of tax withheld, not the amount incurred and owed, which may be higher depending on the recipient's tax bracket. Hence 'pallier', not 'compenser'.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : 'prélevés' does not mean 'advanced', and although 'palliate' does exist, it would be extraordinarily uncommon to find it in a context like this.
