German term

Blauschleiersehen - common name

German to English Medical Medical (general) visual disorders
This term appears in a scientific paper on workers in a metal foundry. One of the health problems that they often suffer from is an eye disorder (caused by exposure to certain chemical substances) that makes the eye cloudy with a blueish, hazy veil.

In German, the common name for this is "Blauschleiersehen".

My research tells me that this is most probably "corneal oedema (or edema)" (I do not know if oedema and edema are totally interchangeable or not).

The only common name I can find is "cloudy eye" but this is often used to refer to keratitis in dogs. I have not seen "cloudy eye" used for corneal oedema anywhere.

Can anyone give me the common name for corneal oedema?

Thanks!

Acute (short-term) exposure of humans to triethylamine vapor causes eye irritation, corneal swelling, and halo vision. People have complained of seeing "blue haze" or having "smoky vision."
