Sie wurden von Ihrem Arzt Professor Dr.med. __________________________darum gebeten, an einer klinischen Studie teilzunehmen, da ihr Arzt festegestellt hat, dass eine der Bandscheiben in Ihrem unteren Rücken degeneriert ist. Unter einer degenerierten Bandscheibe ist zu verstehen, dass der Bereich zwischen zwei Wirbeln, nämlich die Bandscheibe, so stark geschädigt ist, dass Sie an Rückenschmerzen leiden. Der Zweck dieser Forschungsarbeit ist es, die Wertbestimmung der endoskopischen Einbringung des CE genehmigten DASCOR - Bandscheibenkernersatz und des DASCOR – ***Katheterdrahtschneiders***.

In the reference it says that the catheter is cut off at the edge of the implant. So some of it remains in the patient's body. I presume that the outside of the catheter is made of synthetic material and that the wire runs inside the tube.

Comment: "Thanks, Gudrun, and SJLD. I had a look at the procedure animation, and to me it seems to show that (at around 0:50 of the movie) the exterior part or guidewire of the catheter is cut off while the remaining interior part is removed differently later on."
